How I Styled Earthy Tone Outfits in India Under 2000 – My 30 Day Experiment

For 30 days I wore only earthy tones. No black, no bright blue, no red. Only beige, olive, cream, brown, and off white. People around me in Bhopal started asking if I changed my wardrobe completely. One friend said I look like I came from a Pinterest board. The truth is I spent only 1980 rupees total for 4 outfits that I rotated for 30 days. This article is not a list of best products. This is my real 30 day experiment with earthy tones in India, what worked in our humid weather, what failed, and how you can do it without looking boring.

Why I Switched to Earthy Tones and Why It Works Perfectly for Indian Skin

I used to wear only black and white. Black in Bhopal summer made me sweat like crazy. One day I saw a photo of a man wearing olive and beige together. He looked calm, expensive, and cool. I tried the same combination with a 450 rupees olive shirt from local market and my old beige trousers. My skin tone which is wheatish Indian looked instantly brighter.

Earthy tones are colors found in nature – brown like soil, beige like sand, olive like leaves, cream like milk. These colors are soft and do not clash with Indian skin. Unlike bright colors that can look too loud, earthy tones make you look grounded and premium. In 2026, this is called quiet luxury and it is growing fast because men are tired of loud logos.

My Actual Cost and What I Bought – Real Bill Table

This is not an estimated table. This is what I actually bought from 10 No Market in Bhopal and Myntra sale in September.

I did not buy everything online. I touched the fabric first. That is why none of them failed badly. The tailor made trousers for 500 were better than 1500 rupees branded ones I had before.

4 Earthy Tone Outfits I Wore For 30 Days – Photos Are My Real Outfits

Outfit 1 – My Office Look: Beige linen shirt tucked into olive trousers with brown belt. I wore this to my co-working space. Three people asked where I bought the shirt. It is breathable and looks formal without being formal.

Outfit 2 – My Cafe Look: Cream oversized t-shirt plus beige pleated trousers plus white sneakers. I wore this for my Instagram photos. The photo got more likes than my black outfit photos. People said I look fresh.

Outfit 3 – My Evening Look: Olive shirt plus cream trousers plus brown loafers. This is my favorite. Olive and cream together look very expensive. I wore this for a small party and got two compliments.

Outfit 4 – My Travel Look: Brown polo plus beige trousers plus beige trucker hat. I wore this to Sair Sapata lake in Bhopal. It was hot but fabric was breathable so I did not sweat much.

3 Mistakes I Made That You Should Not Make

Mistake 1 – I Bought Mustard First: I thought mustard is also earthy. I bought a mustard t-shirt for 300. It made my skin look dull. Mustard does not suit most Indian skin tones. Stick to beige, olive, cream, brown only.

Mistake 2 – Wearing All Beige Together: One day I wore beige shirt plus beige trousers plus beige shoes. I looked like a wall. Earthy tone does not mean all same color. Mix light and dark – cream plus olive, beige plus brown. Contrast is important.

Mistake 3 – Ironing Linen Poorly: Linen wrinkles fast. I did not iron my beige linen shirt properly one day and it looked like I slept in it. Earthy tones need crisp ironing to look expensive. Wrinkles make them look cheap.

How I Maintained My Earthy Clothes So They Look New After 30 Days

I wash in cold water inside out. I dry in shade, not direct sun. Direct sun fades olive color fast. I iron when slightly damp, not fully dry. Linen needs steam iron.

I also keep them separate from dark clothes. One time my olive shirt got black lint from my black jeans wash. Now I wash earthy tones separately.

Final Verdict – Is Earthy Tone Worth It For Under 2000?

Yes, 100 percent. After 30 days I realized my wardrobe looks more premium, my photos look better, and people notice I am well dressed without me trying too hard. I spent only 1980 and got 4 outfits that give me 12 combinations.

If you have wheatish to dusky Indian skin, start with beige and olive. These two colors alone will change your look. Do not buy all at once. Start with one beige trouser and one cream t-shirt. See how it looks on you. Then add olive.
